A.
Remove:
-
bolt attaching the engine block heater to engine block.
B.
Check:
-
clearance between the engine block heater and the engine block at the bolt joint (see illustration 8702249A)
It should not be possible to insert a 7.0 mm (8/32 in.) feeler gauge between the two when the heater is pressed against the engine block.
If the clearance is correct, reinstall the block heater with the service kit (P/N 9184714-5). See STEP C for service kit installation instruction.
If the clearance exceeds 7.0 mm (8/32 in.), replace the engine block heater with a new engine block heater.
Alternative A

service kit (P/N 9184714-5). See Step C for service kit installation instruction.
