Fault tracing in belt transmission
for auxiliary equipment

This Service Bulletin describes how to detect and repair causes of noise and wear if there is noise when the engine is idling. After carrying out the
analysis the drive belt is to be removed and the engine run at idling rpm to rule out other causes for the
fault.

WARNING

When tracing sounds, a stethoscope with a tube is recommended. Hold the stethoscope tube well away from moving parts in the engine. If the tube
should fasten in a moving part of the engine, personal injury could result.
