Slip Ring Contact, Replacement
WARNING: For cars with SRS, See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems and See Steering Wheel Removal in Steering and Suspension. This
article shows procedure for NON-Air Bag equipped vehicles as it relates to the steering wheel and other components.
Removal

Remove steering wheel. Vehicles with Air Bag, see Air Bags and Steering Wheel as stated above. Vehicles WITHOUT Air Bag, proceed to next
step.

Park car with wheels straight on level ground. Check that wheels are straight.

Turn Ignition off.

Remove steering wheel center plate.

Remove Steering wheel nut and steering wheel.

Undo slip ring contact flat pin in steering wheel.

Cut off lead at connector with clippers.

Press contact out from inside wheel.
Installation

Install Slip ring contact.

Install Slip ring connector protective sleeve.

Install Slip ring connector to connecting pin in steering wheel.

Install Steering wheel. Vehicles with Air Bag, See Steering and Suspension, Steering Wheel and See Air Bags for further Instruction as stated
above. Vehicles WITHOUT Air Bag, Proceed to next step.

Install in Straight Ahead Position.

Torque Setting 33 Nm (24 ft.lbf).
