Use stethoscope on tensioner cover. A dear clicking noise should be heard.
Repair:

Replace all parts included in the spare pats kit as shown in the table of contents at C1 or C2.
Remarks: If the guard has a mounting plate D-type then only the required parts should be replaced. see Replacement Parts kit.
WARNING
Exercise caution when working with the stethoscope so that is does not contact the belt.

Knocking noise
Occurrence:

Belt is too long.
Cause:

The belt tensioner arm is contacting the stop in the tensioner housing.
Analysis method:

Let car run at idle with A/C running. Stand at right front wheel and listen for sound which increases when the A/C starts.
Repair:

Replace belt
