Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable: Service and Repair
1. Position front wheels in the straight-ahead position.
2. Disarm SRS as described under "Air Bag System Disarming and Arming".
3. Remove drivers air bag as described under "Drivers Air Bag, Replace.
4. Prior to removing steering wheel, ensure front wheels are in the straight-ahead position, then place alignment marks on steering shaft and steering
wheel hub for use during installation.
5. Remove steering wheel retaining nut, then remove wheel.
6. Remove steering column upper and lower covers.
7. Disconnect contact reel connector and horn wire.
8. Remove three contact reel attaching screws and reel.
9. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Prior to installation, rotate contact reel fully to right, then rotate to left three turns. Contact reel screw hole should be at the one O'clock
position, Fig. 22.
b. When installing steering wheel, align hub and shaft marks made during removal.
c. Tighten contact reel attaching screws and steering wheel nut specifications.
d. After completing installation, arm SRS as described under "Air Bag System Disarming and Arming".
