Door Switch: Service and Repair

The door passenger compartment microswitch for the passenger compartment light is mounted in the door lock.

-

Remove lock from door.

-

Cut off cable tie holding lead to casing and remove pieces of tape over where the leads run into the lock.

Turn lock and protective cover down and push out locking wedges in inner cover mounting pin.

-

Save locking wedges.

-

Carefully remove cover from lock lever mounting so as not to damage leads or cover.

Replacing Microswitch

Remove microswitch from lock by bending catches outward slightly and pulling microswitch straight off of guide pins.

-

Using a soldering iron, undo one lead at a time and solder it onto the right pin on the new microswitch (see Image).

-

Reassemble in reverse order and tie and tape leads to avoid noise and wear.

-

Test for proper operation.

-

Check that alarm is working, if fitted.
