Parking Brake Shoe: Service and Repair
Brake Shoes, Replacement (Multilink)
BRAKE SHOES, REPLACEMENT (MULTILINK)
AC1. Slacken parking brake adjuster.
AC2. Jack up and support rear of car. Remove wheels
Mark wheel positions if locating studs are not fitted.
AC3. Remove brake caliper.
Tie up caliper with steel wire to avoid damage to brake hose.
AC4. Remove brake disc
Note: Mark brake disc (with X) to indicate position with respect to locating stud.
Remove locating stud and disc.
AC5. Remove brake shoes
Use heavy screwdriver to remove return spring clip. Free return spring from shoes but allow to remain in position on shaft.
Inspection
Before installing new shoes:
Check that expander and cable are not worn or sticking. Clean shoe sliding surfaces on brake shields.
AC6. Install:
