Timing Cover: Service and Repair
This engine is equipped with both upper and lower timing covers. To remove covers, proceed as follows:
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Remove cooling fan, preheater hose clamp at fan shroud, if applicable, then the shroud.
3.
Remove drive belts and water pump pulley.
4.
Remove upper timing cover attaching bolts and screws, then the upper cover.
5.
Remove lower cover attaching bolts, then the lower cover.
6.
Install in reverse order.
