Checking Socket Brown-Black Wire

Connect an ohmmeter between black wire and ground.
Reading: 0 ohm
Checking Selector Cable

Turn ignition OFF.
19.
Connect the ohmmeter between selector cable and pin #8 under diagnostic socket.
a. Reading: infinity
b. Reading: 0 ohm when the button is depressed
Checking Diode

Connect a diode tester between the diagnostic socket diode and the selector wire. Tester red (+) lead connects under diode, black (-) lead connects
to the selector wire.
21.
If a reading is obtained, diode is operating correctly.
22.
If diagnostic socket fails any test between step 15 and 17, check wiring and connectors. Replace as needed.
23.
If the socket fails test 19 to 21, replace diagnostic socket and retest.
24.
After testing, disconnect all test equipment, reconnect all connectors (including the ECU connector) and remount all panels.
