Air Bag: Description and Operation
Inflator
The inflator consists of a gas generator and an igniter. It contains a material, which when ignited, generates the nitrogen gas which inflates the bag. As
already described, the bag is rapidly inflated by this gas. The inflator is a sealed unit, made of aluminum or steel.
