Modified crankshaft and main bearings
B230 engine modifications were brought into production for 1988 model year. Only the modified engines are now being manufactured.
Modifications:

Main bearing diameter increased from 55 mm to 63 mm.

Width of rear main bearing increased from 29 mm to 35.5 mm.

Thrust bearing moved from center to rear main bearing.

Thrust bearing changed from half (180~) to full (360~) bearing.

Thrust washers modified to flanged bearings.
-
Main bearing play reduced from 0.024-0.072 mm (0.001-0.003 in.) to 0.024-0.061 mm (0.001-0.002 in.).
Color-coded main bearings
Color-coded main bearings are used in production. The bearings are coded blue + red, yellow + yellow.
NOTE:
Only the yellow-marked main bearings will be stocked by the Parts Department.
