Fault tracing auxiliary equipment belt drives

This service bulletin describes how to trace and repair noise and wear if there is noise when the engine is running. After carrying out analysis remove the 
drive belt and run engine at idle to rule out other sources of the fault.

WARNING

Use of stethoscope with tube is recommended when tracing noise. Keep the tube of the stethoscope well away from moving parts of the engine.
Contact between moving engine parts and the tube can result in injury.

DESCRIPTION OF COMPONENTS

This section describes 2 different mountings for idler pulleys, 2 different variants of belt tensioner and 2 lengths for the idler pulley shaft. In addition it
describes in which combinations they are usually used.
