Intermittent flashing of bulb failure lamp when braking
If the warning lamp occasionally flashes on braking even though the bulbs are intact, the following action can be taken:

Remove the light socket from the rear cluster and detach the connector from the socket. Check that the pins in the socket are straight and parallel.
Check both sides.

Take out bulbs from both sockets and squeeze the bases slightly so that the bulbs have no free play In the sockets. Check that bulbs and sockets are
clean and free from corrosion.

Check with an ohmmeter that the bulbs are of the right type, and that identical readings are found on the matching bulbs on each side. Use only
genuine Volvo bulbs. Also check the tall light grounding point near the gasoline filler pipe.

Replace the 8-pole connectors.
