6. Install seal

Grease seal lip (see arrow) with Volvo bearing grease, P/N 1161241-3.
Install oil thrower (if removed).

Place seal on tool 5538 (against side marked 1031).
1 = Seal.

Press on seal using tool 5156 (M20 thread) or 5504 (M24 thread).

7. Press on drive flange

Use press tool 5156 (M20 thread) or 5504 (M24 thread).

NOTE:  Install flange as marked during removal.

8. Tighten drive flange to 180-200 Nm (133-148 ft. lbs.).

Use new, oiled nut.
No axial clearance is permissible.

NOTE:  A torque of 200 Nm must not be exceeded, otherwise pinion bearing may be overtightened, resulting in bearing failure.

Check runout.

0.05 mm (0.0020 inch) [0.08 mm (0.0031 inch) for CV joint]

Install bolt in weight.
