Grease the shim on both sides with a thin layer of silicone grease (P/N 116 1325-4).

Install the shim towards the brake pad's rear plates.

Install the brake pads.

Install one split pin and retaining spring first, then the other split pin.
Finishing and checking

If the brake pipe was not removed from the brake caliper, continue to Checking and adjusting.

If the brake pipe was removed from the brake caliper, top up and bleed the braking system. Then continue as follows.

Check there are no leaks and that the brakes are working properly.

Depress the brake pedal a few times.

Check the level of the brake fluid reservoir.

Adjust the parking brake if necessary. See Parking brake See: Parking Brake System/Service and Repair.
