Fuel Pressure: Testing and Inspection
Checking Fuel Pressure and Residual Pressure
Checking fuel pressure and residual pressure in the workshop
Choosing a method for taking a reading
It is possible to measure fuel pressure with the car stationary or while being driven. Residual pressure is measured with the car stationary.
For measurement while the car is being driven see Taking fuel pressure readings while driving the car See: Taking Fuel Pressure Readings While
Driving the Car.
Continue - Measuring line pressure
-------------------------------------------------
Measuring line pressure
-
Connect pressure gauge according to Fuel pressure gauge See: Fuel Pressure Gauge.
-
Remove central electrical unit cover
-
Remove fuel pump (FP) relay (terminal 103 in central electrical unit)
-
Connect jumper cable across relay base terminals 1 and 3
-
Switch on ignition, fuel pump should start
Read off line pressure from pressure gauge. The line pressure should be 375-395 kPa
If the fuel pressure is OK, check the residual pressure.
Remedy as necessary
