Special Tools: 999 5716, 999 5259, 999 5460
NOTE:
-
Make sure that the front wheels are in the straight ahead position. In addition, lock the steering wheel with the steering column lock when the tie
rod and steering column universal joint are removed. This must be done to prevent the SRS contact roller from reaching its end position.

Raise the car by the front of the sills so that the subframe's rear mounting points become accessible and can be removed.
Removing the steering gear

Fit yokes 999 5716-21 and 999 5716-1 and lifting hooks 999 5460-21.

Lift the engine slightly so take the weight off the engine mountings.

Remove
-
the front wheels.
-
the tie rod ends from the tie rods. Use puller 999 5259
-
Measure on one side the length of the tie rod in relation to the steering gear housing.
-
Note the length.
