Springs, Shock Absorbers And Anti-Roll Bar
Front spring
The car is equipped with coil springs. The wheels are individually sprung. The lower end of each front spring (1) is supported by a seat plate (2) which is
welded to the spring strut (3).
The upper end of the spring is seated against a support plate and a bearing housed in a steel sleeve, vulcanized into the upper bearing mount (4). The
bearing is fixed to the wheel arch with three screws.
On the shock absorber piston rod (6), which also acts as the upper guide for the spring strut, there is a bump stop (5) with a protective sleeve attached.
The job of the bump stop is to protect the suspension from major shocks.
Shock absorber and anti-roll bar
The shock absorbers are the double action hydraulic telescopic type. They are maintenance free and cannot be disassembled.
The shock absorbers consist of spring strut tubes with spring seats and their piston rods act as the spring strut mountings in the upper bearings.
The anti-roll bar (7) is fixed to the sub-frame side member with two clamps and connected to the spring struts with two control arms (8).
