the shaft from the cable and the lever. Use round-nose pliers. Pull the shaft straight out

the cable from the gear selector assembly.

Removing the transmission cable 

Fold the carpet down. Remove the side panel.
Remove the screws for the cable grommet in the cowl-panel.
Remove the ignition switch interlock cable from the transmission cable.

Installing the transmission cable 

Note:  Take care not to damage the cable or sleeve by bending it excessively. Take care not to damage the cable boot.

Route the cable correctly in the engine compartment with someone to assist you. Align the cable in the gear selector assembly.
