Remove the cable sleeve from the front mounting.
Use a screwdriver.

Removing the ignition switch interlock cable from the gear selector assembly 

Move the gear selector to position P. Turn the ignition key to position I or II.
Carefully pry out the cable adjuster with a small screwdriver.
Remove the cable from the lever.
Remove the gear selector assembly.

Transferring components 
Transfer the following components to the new gear selector assembly (replace any damaged components): 

-

the rubber bushings and spacer sleeves

-

the solenoid and the connector

-

the mode selector switch

-

the foam rubber ring.
