Hood Latch Release Cable: Service and Repair

Hood release cable

Removing the hood release cable

Note! The hood release cable cannot be adjusted.

Remove the three mounting screws for the hood catch.
Unhook the mechanical cable from the hood catch.
Remove the fender liner according to  Plastic fender liner See: Fender/Front Fender/Front Fender Liner/Service and Repair.
Pull the hood release cable through to the wheel arch.

Remove:

-

the mounting screws for the handle in the passenger compartment

-

the locking cable from the handle.

Pull the locking cable through the wheel arch.

Installing the hood release cable:

Position the sleeve over the new mechanical cable.
 Right-hand drive cars: secure the cable with a tie strap beside the air intake.
Pull the locking cable through the wheel arch.

Install:

-

the locking cable on the handle

-

the mounting screws for the handle in the passenger compartment. Tighten to  8 Nm.

Pull the locking cable through to the wheel arch.
Install the fender liner according to  Plastic fender liner See: Fender/Front Fender/Front Fender Liner/Service and Repair.
Hook the cable onto the hood catch.
Install the three mounting screws for the hood catch. Tighten the screws to  8 Nm.
