Thermostat: Removal and Replacement
Checking / replacing the thermostat
Draining coolant
See Replacing coolant See: Coolant/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement.
Drain off approximately 2 liters of coolant.
Removing the thermostat
Turbocharged engines: remove the throttle body (TB) cover.
Remove the cover over the fuel rail.
Remove the upper timing cover.
Remove the thermostat housing cover (Torx 40 screws). Lift out the thermostat and the gasket.
