S60 L5-2.4L Turbo VIN 54 B5244T5 (2005)
When removing the gear selector, the lever must be in neutral (center position).
Remove:
-
the bleed valve. Tap the pin out of the gear selector lever. Lift the gear selector lever off the shaft

the screws for the bracket for the gear selector cables and the cover for the gear selector.
Removing the gear selector
Pry off the cover. Use the 3 lugs on the cover.
Position a drift through the hole on the gear selector shaft. Lift the drift to remove the gear selector from the transmission.
Lift the gear selector while sliding it forwards.
Thoroughly clean the mating surface on the transmission.
Position: 999 5724 Cover See: Tools and Equipment/999 5724 Cover (the hole pattern on the cover must be adjusted slightly) on the transmission.
Installation
Installing the gear selector
Note! For tightening torques, see applicable specifications.
Check that the mating surfaces are completely clean. Check that there is no grease on the transmission and gear selector. Apply a thin layer of liquid
gasket (P/N 116 1409-6 (333 ml)) to the mating surface on the transmission. Check that the gear selector is in neutral. See: Removing the gear shift lever.
