the rear wheel hub from the wheel spindle and drive shaft.
Note! Make sure that the drive shaft releases from the rear wheel hub. There must be no axial forces on the drive shaft joints.
Cleaning
Checking and cleaning
Clean:
-
the drive shaft end, especially if there is rust on the edge. See the illustration.
(The outer seal ring of the wheel hug will lie against this surface).

the mating faces of the wheel hub in the wheel spindle

the wheel sensor
-
the sensor seat in the wheel spindle so it is absolutely clean

the wheel sensor. Use a soft brush.
Greasing the seal
Lubricate the wheel bearing sealing lip abutting the drive shaft with a little wheel bearing grease. P/N 1161689.
Brush high pressure grease, P/N 1161246 onto the drive shaft so that the splines on the rear half of the drive shaft pin are filled.
Installation

Installing the rear wheel hub
Make sure that the wheel suspension is in its normal position.
