Remove the tailgate interior trim.

Check VGLA control module connector and tailgate lock unit connector for contact resistance and oxidation See: Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests

Ignition on.
Activate central locking motor in tailgate.
If the tailgate central locking motor is activated it means that the cause of the fault has been loose connections in the connectors.
Is the tailgate central locking motor activated?
