Oil level, checking
Note:
Oil grade: Only ATF oil, Volvo P/N 1161540-8 (1 liter container), 1161640-6 (4 liter container) may be used
WARNING! Avoid skin contact with transmission fluid.
Conditions
The difference between MAX and MIN volume is 0.2 liters. Check oil temperature in transmission.
At room temperature (+20°C) the oil level is near the MIN marking on the "cold area".
At room temperature (20°C), engine not idling, and low oil level the oil barely reaches the dipstick.
The "cold range" (+40°C) is reached after approx. 15 minutes idling, while the "hot range" (+80°C) is reached after approx. 30 minutes highway
driving at an air temperature above +15°C.
NOTE!
The check should be carried out at an oil temperature of +80°C. Go to vehicle communication function group 4. Select the digital display
parameter. Select the parameter for the transmission oil temperature.
Preparing to check the oil level

Flat surface

Parking brake set
-
Foot brake applied
-
Engine idling

Move gear selector to position P.
Move the gear selector through all positions, stopping in each position for approx. 3 seconds
Return gear selector to position P and wait 2 minutes before checking oil level. The dipstick must be pushed down as far as possible in oil dipstick
pipe.
CAUTION! Wipe dipstick with a nylon cloth (i.e. a material free of lint and loose threads).
Low level (topping up)
Top up with oil through the dipstick pipe
Take account of the temperature when topping up with oil.
High level (overfilling)
WARNING! The oil may be very hot if the car has just been driven. Avoid skin contact with transmission fluid.
WARNING! The transmission must not be operated if the oil level is too high due to overfilling. This can cause increased operating temperatures and oil
leakage.
