Removal

Remove the air bag. Refer to: Driver's airbag See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/Driver's Airbag.
Torque: Steering wheel to steering column (center screw), 48 Nm
Caution! Make sure that the steering wheel is not rotated while the clockspring is locked in position.
Slacken off the screw (1) and lock the contact reel.
