21. Clean and check all components. :

Check boots, change as necessary.

Check boot O-rings on the steering gear ends, change as necessary.

-

Check all components for wear, corrosion, cracking and pressure damage.

Do this to determine which parts can be re-used.

Check valve spindle and its bearings.

If these parts are damaged the steering gear must be replaced.

NOTE:  Thoroughly Clean Threads In Steering Gear Housing With Cleaning Head Where The Pre-tensioner Assembly Is To Be Installed.

Assemble

Or Equivalent

1. Lubricate All Components Before Assembling.

2. Piston seal.

-

Replace the piston seal only if it is damaged or if the car has driven more than 40000 km (25000 miles).

Install first O-ring and then the Teflon ring.

-

Heat the Teflon ring to 40-50 °C (104-122 °F) if it is difficult to thread onto the piston.
