Drain as much oil as possible out of the fluid reservoir.
Use 115 8957 HOSE PLIERS See: Tools and Equipment/115 8957 Hose Pliers on the return hose as close to the fluid reservoir as possible.
Use a rag to catch spilled oil.
Release the pipe connection nut from the steering gear housing.
Remove the hose and allow the oil to run out into a container. Immediately plug the pipe connections on the steering gear housing.
Connect a hose between the outlet on the steering gear housing and the container if the entire system is to be drained.
Remove the lock grip pliers from the return hose.
Removing the return line
Use a rag to catch spilled oil.
Slacken off hose clamp at the fluid reservoir. Remove the hose.
Plug the hose connection on the fluid reservoir.
Remove the pipe assembly from the car.
Mark out the position of the pipe clamp. Remove the pipe clamp.
Installation
Hint: The part of the return line with a hose can be replaced individually. This is achieved by replacing the old return hose with the hose taken from the
new return line. The new hose section can then be installed on the old pipe that is still installed in the car.
