Axle Nut: Specifications

Centre nut, drive shaft and tightening torque

Hint: Applies to 1998-2000: If the lock nut which was installed in step 3 (B) does not remain in place or was replaced during a repair, flanged nut (P/N
3089 6406) must be used with the same tightening torque as for the 2001 - (C) version.

Check-tightening the factory-installed centre nut for the drive shaft 

The versions with factory-installed centre nuts for the drive shaft and the correct tightening torques are listed here.
 - 1997:

Yellow lock nut with separate curved spring washer.
Tighten to  240 Nm.
 1998-2000:

Black flanged nut.

Tighten to:

1. :  120 Nm
2. : tighten a further  + 60 ° in a single movement.

Hint: For 1998-2000 the version (C) in step 3 can be used.

 2001-:

Yellow flanged nut (black washer).

Tighten to:

1. :  180 Nm
2. : tighten a further  + 30 ° in a single movement.
