Transmission Position Switch/Sensor: Adjustments

Checking and adjusting the gear-shift position sensor

Special tools:

 999 5475 GAUGE  See: Tools and Equipment/999 5475 Gauge 

Preparations

Preparations, removing

Ensure that the gear selector is in N.
Remove:

-

The battery

-

The air cleaner (ACL) housing assembly

-

The transmission cable from the lever

-

The lever.

Checking and adjusting gear-shift position sensor

Check

Note! Press the tool down towards the flat surfaces below the thread on the shaft.

Install tool  999 5475 GAUGE  See: Tools and Equipment/999 5475 Gauge  on the gear shift linkage rod.
Check that the rod is in the N position (second position after the P position, P-R-N).
The slot on the tool must line up exactly over the marking on the gear-shift position sensor.
