Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder: Service and Repair
Replacing the steering wheel lock and the lock cylinder for the steering wheel lock
Special tools:
998 5447 SCREW EXTRACTOR SET 6-12 MM See: Tools and Equipment/998 5447 Screw Extractor Set 6-12 mm
Preparations
Remove the battery negative lead
Lower the steering wheel to its lowest position.
Remove the lower steering column cover.
Replace the lock cylinder for the steering wheel lock
Remove:
Turn the ignition key to position 1.
Press down the lug for the lock cylinder. Use a 2 mm drift.
Remove the steering wheel lock.
Install
Insert the ignition key in the new lock.
Turn the ignition key to position 1.
Press the lug down using a drift. Press the cylinder into the ignition switch.
Check that everything is functioning correctly.
Replacing the steering wheel lock
