Measuring the Lateral Runout At the Brake Discs (Front/Rear)
Measuring The Lateral Runout At The Brake Discs (Front/Rear)
Special Tools: 999 9696, 999 9684
Preparations
Remove the hub cap. Remove the wheel.
Front: Remove the brake caliper from the holder. Remove the brake pads.
Rear: Remove the brake hose from the support.
Remove the entire brake caliper from the rear axle.
Mounting the brake disc on the hub
Install the wheel nuts with the flat side inwards. Tighten the nuts. Tighten to 110 Nm.
Measuring the lateral runout on the brake discs
Assemble the dial gauge (999 9696, 999 9684). Position the dial gauge against the brake disc.
Rotate the hub gently. Use a socket. The maximum permitted lateral runout for the front/rear is: 0.04 mm.
If the maximum lateral run out is greater than this, replace or remachine the disc (if tools for this are available).
NOTE: This lateral runout can also be caused by the lateral runout of the hub. If necessary, check the lateral runout of the hub.
