Note! Cleaning is important for preventing lateral runout from brake disc.

Ensure that the hub flange is clean.
Remove rust using a iron scrapper or a steel brush.
Inspect hub.
If the hub is damaged, lateral runout at the hub should be measured. See  Measuring lateral runout in hub (front/rear) See: Maintenance/Wheels and
Tires/Wheel Hub/Testing and Inspection.
