Electronic Brake Control Module: Removal and Replacement
Replacing Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module
Replacing the ABS control module
Removal
Preparations
Ignition off.
Removal
Thoroughly clean the ABS hydraulic modulator and the control module.
Remove:

the hoses and hose mountings (A) on the fender liner at the control module

the first three mounting clamps (B) for the brake pipes on the fender liner and cowl panel
-
the fluid reservoir (C) for the power steering system.

Disconnect the control module connector by pulling out the locking arm (D)

Remove the 2 nuts (E) holding the hydraulic modulator and the control module.
The engine control module (ECM) can be detached and lifted to the side on diesel engines.
Control module and ABS hydraulic modulator
Note! Do not damage the brake pipes and the pump motor cable under the control module.
Carefully lift up the control module and ABS hydraulic modulator. The brake pipes will also come up at the same time. Do not damage the brake pipes.
Locate the 3 rubber dampers and the 2 mounting lugs.
