Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder: Removal and Replacement
Replacing the steering wheel lock and lock cylinder
Special tools:
998 5447 SCREW EXTRACTOR SET 6-12 MM See: Tools and Equipment/998 5447 Screw Extractor Set 6-12 mm
Preparations
Disconnect the battery lead. See Note when disconnecting and connecting the battery lead See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and
Repair/Procedures/Battery, Disconnecting.
Lower the steering wheel to its lowest position.
Remove the lower steering column cover.
Removing the lock cylinder
Turn the ignition key to position 1.
Press the lug for the lock cylinder down using a 2 mm drift.
Remove the steering wheel lock.
Installing the lock cylinder
