Secure the drive shaft in a vise with soft jaws.
Remove the clamps from the boot. Cut the boot and remove it from the shaft.
Disassembling the constant velocity joint
Mark up the position of the drive shaft in relation to the constant velocity joint. Bend up the collar on the constant velocity joint so that the tripod joint
can be extracted.
Pull the shaft out of the constant velocity joint.
Remove the needle bearings from the tripod.
Mark up the bearings in relation to the tripod.
Cleaning the constant velocity joint
Clean the constant velocity joint thoroughly.
Do not take the needle bearings apart.
Wipe the outside of the needle bearings using a lint-free rag.
