REFERENCE: SMB 55-159
DESCRIPTION:
Volvo Cars of North America (VCNA) has announced Service Campaign 159A, Parking Brake Owner's Manual Supplement/Adjustment, affecting the
above model and Model Year vehicles with manual transmissions only. In an effort to facilitate proper parking brake engagement, customers have been
informed that their authorized Volvo retailer will adjust the parking brake at no charge. In addition, Volvo has provided to these customers a supplement
to the owner's manual detailing instructions for proper parking brake use.
The Service procedure below details how to perform this adjustment.
Note!
The following service procedure should be done on a vehicle with brakes which are cool or slightly warm. You should be able to comfortably touch
all braking surfaces; if not, allow the brakes to cool down before proceeding.
SPECIAL TOOLS
SERVICE:
1.
Initial adjustment/equalization
Pull up the parking brake lever very hard five times.
Note!
It is vital that this is done to correctly orient all system components.
2.
Make the adjuster nut accessible
Make sure that the parking brake lever is in its released position (fully down).
