Thermostat: Service and Repair

Preparatory work
Draining coolant
Lift up the car and remove the protective cover under the engine. Open the nipple on the engine.
Drain the coolant into a drain pan. Refer to: Close the nipple.
Install the protective cover under the engine. Lower the car.
Removing components
Remove the air cleaner (ACL) module. See: Air filter module See: Engine/Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Air Cleaner Housing/Service and
Repair.
Removal
Removal of thermostat housing
Unplug the connector from the temperature sensor.
Remove:

inlet and outlet hose from the thermostat housing
Note! Collect any coolant using paper or similar.
the screws for the thermostat housing

the thermostat housing.
Transferring temperature sensor
Pull the lock clip straight out and lift out the temperature sensor. Install the sensor with new seal ring.
