DESCRIPTION:
In certain winter weather conditions a door lock may become frozen. The door can be opened but the pawl may not be moving freely and does not return
easily. As a result the door may be hard to close or may bounce back.
SERVICE:
When a lock mechanism is frozen it must first be defrosted in order to move freely again. Let the vehicle sit inside to defrost. NEVER USE
ANTI-FREEZE SPRAY! Anti-freeze type spray will remove all lubricant along with the ice and the lock will become very sensitive to water intrusion
thereafter.
Once the lock is defrosted and is moving freely again, slightly lift the claw to open a passage towards the pawl bearing area. Use lubricant (P/N
1161827) with a nozzle pipe attached. Insert the nozzle pipe into the passage and aim upward towards the pawl bearing area. Spray for a few seconds.
Normal position of latch with door open.
Service position, latch position is vertical.
Spray nozzle pipe inserted.
