DESCRIPTION:
A customer with 16' front brakes may complain of brake squeal, especially in reverse with cold brakes.
Note:
All North American specification S40, V50, C70, and C30 vehicles have 16" front brakes with these exceptions:

All S40/V50 T5 AWD with manual transmissions (16.5" brakes)

All V50 T5 FWD with manual transmissions (16.5" brakes)
^
All C70 with manual transmissions (16.5" brakes)
To verify if the vehicle has 16" brakes, measure the rotor diameter. The rotor should measure 300 mm (11.8").
New larger front brake caliper retainers were introduced in production from the following chassis numbers:

V50: 053881-
New front brake pads were introduced in production from the following chassis numbers:
S40: 290293-
V50: 306107-
C70: 018000-
C30: 003351-
Should a customer experience front brake squeal, follow one of the service methods below.
SERVICE chassis range A:
Replace the front brake pads using PN 30793618 and both front caliper retainers using PN 8603440 as per VIDA on vehicles listed within chassis range
