Preparatory work

Important information

Caution! When a contract reel / steering wheel module (SWM) is removed and the same contract reel / steering wheel module is then
reinstalled, the contact reel does not need to be reset. Software does not need to be downloaded either.The above only applies on the condition
that the contact reel is fused while the work is being carried out. See: Steering wheel See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Wheel/Service

Caution! Ensure that the front wheels and the steering wheel module (SWM) are in the same position when removing as when installing, i.e.
pointing straight ahead.

Removing the battery leads, steering wheel and steering column covers

Ignition off.
Disconnect the battery negative cable. See: See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and Repair/Procedures/Battery, Disconnecting

Remove:

-

the steering wheel as described in  Steering wheel See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Wheel/Service and Repair

the steering column covers. See: Panel steering column See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Column/Steering Column Cover/Service
and Repair.
