Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

Engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT)

Preparatory work

Draining coolant

Raise the vehicle. Remove the splash guard under the engine. Open the engine nipple.
Drain the coolant into a container. Close the nipple.
Install the splashguard under the engine. Lower the car.

Removing components

Remove the air cleaner (ACL) module. See:  Air filter module See: Engine/Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Air Cleaner Housing/Service and

Removal

Removing the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor

Disconnect the temperature sensor connector. Pull the retaining clip straight out. Pull up the temperature sensor.
