Timing Belt: Description and Operation
Camshaft transmission
The timing belt which drives both of the camshafts as well as the coolant pump is a conventional single-toothed belt. The timing gear pulley for the
camshaft is secured to each camshaft using three screws. The holes for the screws are oval to allow for correct setting of the position of the camshafts.
A mechanical belt tensioner maintains the tension of the timing belt. The belt tensioner presses on the belt via a tension pulley mounted on a lever.
The idler pulley on the other side of the belt stop the belt from oscillating.
