DESCRIPTION:
All of the functions on one or more remotes may become completely inoperative.
For example;
^ Approach light
^ Panic alarm
^ Tailgate unlock
^ Lock
^ Unlock
Once the symptom is present it is permanent. In most cases only one remote is affected but it is possible although rare for both remotes to be inoperative
at the same time. Analysis has revealed the root cause as a random synchronization (SI) counter error.
The SI counter is an electronic security feature to prevent someone from recording the encrypted message sent by the remote and playing it back to open
the car. The counter should increase in the CEM (Central electronic module) and the KIR (key integrated remote) at the same time a remote button is
depressed.
The SI counter contained in the KIR could at random increase or decrease above or below the limit allowed. This will cause the remote(s) to become
inoperative until the counter is reset.
