Steering Column Lock: Service and Repair

Steering lock

Note! Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.

Removal

Ignition key in position 0.
Remove the sound proofing. See  Instrument panel lower See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and
Repair/Instrument Panel Lower 
Remove the steering column covers. See: Panel steering column See: Steering Column Cover/Service and Repair.

Only applies to vehicles equipped with knee bolsters

Note! On certain versions, only stronger brackets have cast cell plastic cushions as knee bolsters.Remove these brackets.

Remove:

-

the combined instrument panel. See: Combined instrument panel See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument
Panel/Service and Repair/Combined Instrument Panel

the knee bolster (1)

-

the air duct (2)

-

the knee bolster brackets (3).
