Lubricate the seal with wheel bearing grease.
Use 999 5654 Punch See: Tools and Equipment/999 5654 Punch. Tap in the ring until it stops.
Note! If the crown wheel shaft seal is be replaced as well, see replacing.

Marking the position of the set nut
Mark the position of the set nut in relation to the housing with a chalk line.
Measure and note the height between the nut and the housing.
Remove the screw and catch of the nut.
Removing the set nut
Remove the adjusting nut using 999 7178 Wrench See: Tools and Equipment/999 7178 Wrench.
Removing the seal ring
Tap out the seal ring.
Use a screwdriver.
