Place the shaft on a workbench. Carefully separate the shaft by pulling out the inner joint from the constant velocity joint. At the same time, note the
position of the balls in relation to the markings. See Clean and mark up the constant velocity joint.
Replacing the pilot bearing
Press out the pilot bearing from the drive shaft
Use jointed ring 999 2853 RING JOINTED See: Tools and Equipment/999 2853 Ring Jointed. Support the socket and shaft as illustrated.
Install the new bearing on the shaft
Use press ring 999 5491 PRESS TOOL See: Tools and Equipment/999 5491 Press Tool as support against the bearing. Turn it as illustrated.
Position socket 999 2842 SOCKET See: Tools and Equipment/999 2842 Socket at the base of the universal joint.
Press the bearing against its seating on the shaft.
Replacing the boot

Knock of the joint's inner track
