SUBJECT:
Squeaking Noise from AWD unit Caused By Propshaft Flange Pins (PN 30614474)
THIS TNN SUPERCEDES THE PREVIOUS TNN DATED 3-6-03. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR FILES.
DESCRIPTION:
MY 2003 S60 AWD / V70 AWD / XC70 cars have a vibration damper mounted on the pinion flange of the rear axle. This damper contains pins which
in some cases, can work themselves backward, toward the rear of the car. If this happens, the end of the pins can contact the end of the oil pump for the
Active On-demand Coupling (AOC) and cause a squeaking noise. No other symptoms will be present.
SERVICE:
Replace the damper according to the instructions in VADIS for "Pinion Seal for the Active On-demand Coupling, Replacing". Verify that there is no
contact between the pins and the oil pump, and that the squeaking noise is gone.
