Control Arm Bushing: Service and Repair

1.
Raise and support vehicle, then remove nuts securing ball joint to control arm.
2.
Remove control arm mounting bolts, then the control arm, Fig. 3.

Clean rust from bushing outer sleeves and note position of outer sleeves in relation to control arms.
4.
Replace bushings using drift 5481, counterhold 5482 and a hydraulic press.
5.
Check position of bushings using gauge 5483.
6.
Install control arm and control arm mounting bolts, then the ball joint to control arm nuts. Tighten nuts to specifications.
7.
Lower vehicle and bounce up and down a few times, then tighten control arm bolts to specifications.
